EASTON, USA — April 20, 2026. Riley Hayes, longtime small-business owner and former school-board member, today filed her candidacy for the State Senate seat representing District 14. Hayes filed at the State Board of Elections office in Easton at 10:00 AM, joined by family and supporters.
“For twenty years I’ve watched our district get talked about in Annapolis — but rarely listened to,” Hayes said. “I’m running because the families who built District 14 deserve a senator who treats this place like home, not a stop on the way somewhere else.”
About Riley Hayes
Riley Hayes has lived in District 14 her entire adult life. She built two small businesses from the ground up — a downtown bookstore and a regional staffing firm — employing more than 40 people across the district. She served six years on the District 14 Board of Education, including two as vice chair.
She lives in Easton with her husband Tom and their two children, both in District 14 public schools.
Campaign priorities
Hayes’s campaign will focus on four priorities:
- Lower taxes and stronger support for working families
- Strong schools with real opportunity for every child
- Public safety in every neighborhood — urban, suburban, and rural
- Healthcare that doesn’t break families
